Rules for Dark Souls

Please remember to check necessary global requirements (e.g. recording for a legend run) on home page.

Dark Souls I and Dark Souls: Remastered are valued equally and have the same requirements.

Champion Requirements

For SL1 Champion we require all bosses to be defeated with screenshots/videos of the following:

  • Stray Demon - Empty arena

  • Taurus Demon - Empty arena

  • Bell Gargoyles - Empty arena

  • Capra Demon - Key to the Depths / Empty Arena

  • Gaping Dragon - Key to Blighttown / Empty arena

  • Demon Firesage - Demon’s Catalyst / Empty arena

  • Centipede Demon - Empty arena

  • Black Dragon Kalameet - Calamity Ring / Empty arena

  • All Boss Souls and/or their empty arenas

If you used any boss souls for items, show them as well for proof. It is strongly recommended to not use boss souls just for souls, as you are effectively destroying your own SL1 proof.

Legend Criteria

Show your stats, rings / equipment screen after killing the bosses. It is recommended to show souls obtained, especially for higher NG kills.

Cheesing Ceaseless Discharge is fine. Cheesing any other boss is not allowed.

  • SL1 NG+6

  • SL1 No Rolling/Blocking/Parrying

    • Boss kills must be flawless (no damage/stagger taken from enemy attacks)

  • SL1 +0 Weapons/+0 Armor/No Toxic/No Poison

    • Dark Hand and Blacksmith Giant Hammer are not allowed for this run.

    • RTSR is allowed for Four Kings.

    • Bleeding bosses is allowed.

  • SL1 Broken Weapon

    • RTSR is allowed for Four Kings

  • SL1 Broken Straight Sword only

    • RTSR is allowed for Four Kings

  • SL1 Perma-Death, All Bosses

    • Record the full run.

    • Duke Skip is not mandatory. Your death to Seath’s first encounter won’t be counted.

  • SL1 No Hit & Any%

    • Record the full run.

    • Duke Skip is not mandatory. Your death to Seath’s first encounter won’t be counted.

Master Criteria

  • SL1 Weapon Level 0: Weapon Level 0 excludes all weapons upgraded with twinkling titanite, as those are WL5 at +0

    • All catalysts are banned

    • Auxiliary damage is banned (ie: poison, bleed)

    • Rings and buffs are banned for all bosses aside from Nito and Four kings

    • All kills must be flawless (no damage/staggers taken)

  • SL1 NG+6 No Rolling/Blocking/Parrying:

    • RTSR is NOT allowed

    • Ring of fog and slumbering dragoncrest ring are banned for Gravelord Nito and Capra demon

    • Bed of chaos should be done unsegmented (barring console restrictions)

    • Using the Waterfall to exploit Kalameet’s ai is banned

    • All legend restrictions that apply to the SL1 no roll legend run apply to this run as well

Legend Banned Equipment & Strategies

  • Red Tearstone Ring (unless specified above). It’s too strong.

  • Pyromancy spells. Power Within, Great Combustion, Black Flame, Fireorb and Great Chaos Fireball are all too strong.

  • Dragon Torso Stone. Overpowered for low damage runs, pointless for other challenges.

  • Silver Pendant - trivializes one of the harder bosses.

  • Damaging consumables are banned.

  • Ranged weapons like bows and crossbows are not allowed.

  • Poise tanking is explicitly banned. Fights don't have to be flawless but don't abuse poise mechanics to get through boss fights. (No roll kills have to be flawless).

Useful Resources

Generally, Reinforced Club is your main weapon for most if not all the game. Eventually it is recommended to upgrade it to a Chaos Reinforced Club -and possibly a Lightning Reinforced Club if you don’t want to or can’t use Blacksmith Giant Hammer-. Using fire damage for early game and then upgrade to Chaos is fine. Mentioned before, Blacksmith Giant Hammer is the other most recommended weapon, so alternating between them based on boss resistances is optimal.
